Estate Planning

We believe that caring for one's family, friends, and other organizations of interest is an important aspect of life. Ensuring that assets are properly transferred at death and during life requires careful planning and proper techniques if tax consequences are to be minimized. Furthermore, we believe that proper planning also includes appointment of agents to assist you with management of property, finances, and health care decisions should you become incapacitated or unable to act on your own behalf.

For families with disabled children, there are additional considerations that must be undertaken when developing an estate plan.  Please see the following article that discusses some issues that such families need to consider: Five Planning Considerations for Parents with Disabled Children.  We will be happy to discuss these special circumstances with you to ensure that a proper plan is developed.

Our team provides a variety of services related to estate planning, including:

  • Will Drafting: distribution of assets, appointment of executors/personal representatives, appointment of guardians for children, etc.
  • Trusts: testamentary, living, life insurance, and special needs.
  • Health Care Directives: directions to family and physicians during illness, including "life support" directives for end of life care
  • Durable Powers of Attorney: management of finances and property.
